Matt Beighton

Since he discovered The Hobbit aged 9, Matt Beighton has preferred to live in a world of fantasy and adventure. He’s a firm believer that there is a book out there for every child to enjoy; sometimes we just have to dig a bit deeper. As an experienced teacher, he has spent nearly a decade inspiring a love of reading and creative writing in young children.\n\nA lifelong love of storytelling, a desire to make people smile and, some might say, a need for attention all played a part in inspiring Matt to take pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). Both his debut novel, The Spyglass and the Cherry Tree, and the first instalment in the Monstacademy series have been awarded five-star Reader’s Favourite awards.
